Patchway

Patchway is a large town in south Gloucestershire.

Understand

Patchway was first constructed in the 1950s, after the post-World War II baby boom resulted in more houses from Bristol to be built in overspill estates. It has since developed a distinct identity of its own, and is still under expansion today with its new Charlton Hayes development.

It is a place for shopping and working too, with major employers including Rolls Royce, the Aztec West industrial park and the Cribbs Causeway regional shopping centre.

Get in

By road

The A38 or M5 Junction 16 or 17. Access to Cribbs Causeway has been changed since the new Charlton Hayes development, so shoppers are advised to take Junction 17 while people wanting to see Aztec West use junction 16.

Get around

The area is well served with bus services, with a small bus terminal located at the Cribbs Causeway shopping centre.

See

• Aztec West nature reserve. Where there are many large ponds to see local nature and wild life. 

Do

There is the venue at Cribbs Causeway, which includes a cinema, bowling alley and many American-style restaurants

Norman Scott Park and Patchway BMX track are located on the other side of Aztec West.

The Centre of The Mall at Cribbs Causeway

Patchway is known for the Cribbs Causeway shopping mall is a very large shopping centre, catering to most shopping needs. There are also is a retail park and trading estate that surround the mall itself.

The main attraction of Cribbs Causeway is The Mall itself. It has two large department stores, a John Lewis and a M&S with many stores in between including WHSmith, GAME, Apple Store, Currys/PC World, Tesla Motors, Next, Swarovski, Thornton's etc. In the centre of The Mall, there's a large fountain which shoots water about 10 metres into the air. There is also an ASDA and Morrisons supermarket.

Eat

There is a variety of fast food restaurants and casual dining around Cribbs Causeway including McDonalds, Burger King, KFC, Nando's, Frankie & Benny's, Gourmet Burger Kitchen and TGI Friday's.

There is the preview bar and grill, plus the Patchway Labour Club.
