Ụmụdioka (also known as Dioka ịchi or Dioka Ezebo) is a town in Anambra State, South East Nigeria.

Ụmụdioka is a town in Dunukofia Local Government Area. It used to belong to Idemmiri Local Government Area. Ụmụdioka is bounded by Ogbunike, Ụmụnya, Ogidi and Ụmụnnachi. It is located along Old Onitsha—Enugu Road.

Ụmụdioka people are noted for igbuichi (facial sacrification)

Ụmụdioka is made up ten villages: Akpom, Umuezechua, Umuajana and Umuchigbo.Uruagu, Umuezekwo, Uruowelle, Umueze, Ugwu and Okpuru.

Ụmụdioka has two seasons,the wet season, which is warm, oppressive, and overcast, and the dry season that is hot, muggy, and partly cloudy.

Umudioka is renowned for it's agricultural produce. A variety of crops, including yam, Palm fruit, rice, cassava, and maize, are grown, and farming is the primary source of income in the environs.

There are luxury buses and cars going to Awka or Onitsha from all states in Nigeria. Continue by minibus or tricycle (popularly called Keke) to Afor~Igwe Ụmụdioka (Ụmụdioka Market).

Get around

A popular way to get around is by commercial motorcycle, called okada. You could also hire a car or use your own. Okada riders station themselves at all strategic areas that lead to Ụmụdioka, especially at the market place Afọr-igwe. You could also trek to any of the villages.

Mkpupa Stream; A fresh water stream dedicated to the Mkpukpa deity. If you want to, relax and feel the nature, Mkpupa Stream is the ideal place.

Ogbunike Cave: The cave is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, located in Ogbunike, a town not far from Ụmụdioka.

Mkpupa Festival: Dedicated to Mkpukpa deity, the festival is a masquerade festival to mark the ending of the planting season. It is a 4-day event (one week in Igbo calendar) usually in July

New Yam Festival: Usually celebrated in middle of September of every year. It is a masquerade ceremony for the new yam.

A daily ancient market, that boost more on quarterly afor market days according to Igbo culture, One can get almost everything in the market, including wares, articles, utensils, livestock, food stuffs, grains etc. to affordable price. Food items like vegetable and fruits are cheaper and assorted on Afọr Market day.
  • 1 Eke umudioka (Eke Umunnachi), Umudioka village (go east from Awka to Dunukofia Umudioka Market). 8AM-noon. Eke Umudioka Market is a daily market selling fresh produce, grains, and local goods, with prices negotiated between buyers and sellers, peaking on Thursdays.

Bolingo Restaurant Afọr-igwe Market: For all the local dishes in affordable prices. Located beside garage at Afọr-igwe Market Umudioka. Eat in and take away, open daily from 9AM-9PM.
