Aguata is a Local Government Area in Anambra State, South Eastern Nigeria. The headquarters of Aguata Local Government Area is in Aguata (the neutral name of the location in which the headquarters of the LGA office is sited). The towns that make up Aguata LGA are Ekwulobia, Akpọ, Achina, Uga, Igbo-ukwu, Isuofia, Umuchu, Agbuluezechukwu, Ezinifite, Ikenga, Amesi, Oraeri, Umuano and Nkpologwu.

Awuka Masquerade of Agbuluezechukwu in Aguata. The masquerade usually come out during new yam (September) festival and Christmas. The masquerade dances and entertain people.
Nkpokiti Ije enu dance: Aguata people are noted for the Nkpokiti dance. It usually occurs during the New Yam Festival and Christmas.

The New Yam Festival
Like all the towns and Local Government Areas in Anambra State, Aguata celebrates the New Yam Festival to mark the beginning of harvest of yam and declare the new yam fit for consumption. Aguata LGA do not celebrate the new yam together. All the towns in Aguata Local Government Area have their dates and months for new yam celebration. Example Ekwulobia celebrates in September while Aguluezechukwu celebrates in August and so on.
