The major cities in Ajmer Division are:

  • 1 Ajmer — popular as a gateway to Pushkar, and has an important Islamic pilgrimage site, the shrine of the Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti
  • 2 Bhilwara — its Gangaur festival, which is celebrated in the months of March and April, is dedicated to the Hindu goddess Parvati and is celebrated with great pomp and show
  • 3 Tonk —the "City of Nawabs" has a beautiful mansion
  • 4 Uniyara — Kheda village, near Kakod, hosts a life-sized elephant carved of stone
  • 5 Wazirpur — on the shores of a beautiful lake, it has two traditional Hindu temples

The Nagaur Fort is an historically important fort with 90 fountains in the gardens and buildings.

Pushkar Lake is a beautiful, sanctified spot said to have been created by Lord Brahma. The lake is surrounded by 52 ghats, or series of steps, which Hindus use to descend to the lake for ritual bathing. The Pushkar Camel Fair (November, during the full moon) is a 14-day fair visited by 400,000 people per year, and by 11,000 camels, horses, and cattle.
