Akwanga is a city and local government in Nasarawa State of North Central Nigeria. It is home to the second indigenous private polytechnic in Northern Nigeria.

The languages spoken in and around Akwanga is dominantly the indigenous Mada and other Plateau language groups are Koro, Hyamic, Ndunic, Alumic, Ninzic, Eggonic, and Jilic.
