Alfeld is located on highway B 3 (Hanover–Göttingen).

Designed in 1911 by Walter Gropius who would later become a founder of the Bauhaus school and leading representative of modern architecture. The Fagus Factory is one of the first works of modernism in the world and has been inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2011. Guided tour: €2.
