The island stretches about 12 by 3 km and is home to 2300 islanders and 5 villages, with tourists outnumbering them many fold. During low tides, the islands here can be reached on foot during guided tours. In winter it gets a lot quieter, with some people using the island to escape from loud fireworks in cities, which are banned here.
