Anogeia is a village and capital of the homonymous municipality in prefecture of Rethimno at 512 m.

The Anogeia has 2000 or so residents, so it's a pretty big, however ain't traffic chocked (except then they have celebrations), but advised to walk the village to sense it.

There are many things to see in Anogeia, but first of all

  • the Idaio andro a cave that they say that here Zeus born
  • Museums

Basically even with tourism the economy of the village based on shepherding, so are many things to do related with flock-keeping.

Meat-lovers will love the meats cooked with traditional methods, e.g. antikristo, but vegans can eat, since the Greek diet is full of greenery swimming in olive oil.

  • The most known place to eat is the Delina mountain resort owned by the musician Vasilis Skoulas
