Aquiraz is a coastal city in the Brazilian state of Ceará. The larger Aquiraz municipality is a popular holiday and day trip destination as it has some good beaches. The city itself is almost 30km from Fortaleza and home to just over 70,000 people. It was the capital of Ceará, until that function was taken over by Fortaleza in 1726.
- Museu Sacro São José de Ribamar. This museum houses hundreds of 17th, 18th and 19th century religious pieces, illustrating the faith and church life of the people in Ceará.
- Igreja Matriz de São José de Ribamar. An 18th century church.
- Museu da Cachaça Colonial (Distillery Museum).
There are several good beaches around the city, still forming part of the Aquiraz municipality. The resort town of Porto das Dunas is highly developed, with an excellent water park (Beach Park). Iguape and Prainha are smaller but popular too, also for daytrippers from the nearby state capital; Fortaleza.
