Oceania > New Zealand > North Island > Auckland Region

The Auckland Region is in the North Island of New Zealand. Centred on the Auckland metropolitan area, it also includes a large rural area, stretching as far north as the Wellsford district. The region includes ruggedly beautiful west coast beaches and harbours, the more sheltered inlets and beaches of the east coast, the islands of the Hauraki Gulf and the hiking trails of the native bush-clad Waitakere and Hunua ranges.

Metropolitan Auckland has frequent bus services throughout. Trains connect the Auckland CBD with some parts of the metropolitan area: the Western Line runs to West Auckland; the Southern Line runs right through South Auckland to the town of Pukekohe, near the southern boundary of the Auckland Region; the Eastern line serves the inner eastern suburbs of the isthmus; there is no train service on the North Shore. Ferries run from the CBD to points around the Waitemata Harbour, east Auckland, islands of the Hauraki Gulf (such as Waiheke Island), and the Whangaparaoa Peninsula.

If there are Cities and Other destinations listed, they may not all be at usable status or there may not be a valid regional structure and a "Get in" section describing all of the typical ways to get here.
