Sleep edit

Although Banqiao is one of the most urbanized areas in New Taipei City, it is still a small town. There are no major chain hotels and it would be easier to find a hotel and stay in Taipei and visit Banqiao for a couple of hours as it only takes a few minutes to go from downtown Taipei to Banqiao. There are, however, some small hotels that are relatively unknown to foreigners. The prices are often lower in these hotels.

  • UZ Hostel (原宿時空膠囊旅館), B1, No. 22, Lane 50, Section 1, Zhongshan Rd., +886(02)6637-0603. Check-in: 15:00-00:99, check-out: 00:00-11:00. Easy access from Taipei Main Station by MRT (Blue Line), less than 5 min walk from MRT Fuzong Station, 24-hour front desk, within 10-min walk from Banqiao Station, the Lin Family Mansion and Garden, Nanya Night Market, and 3 supermarkets.

It’s a capsule hotel-style hostel in the basement floor of a multi-tenant building. Separate male and female dorm rooms, and 2 mixed capsule dorm rooms. All showers and toilets are in the separate male or female sections. Capsule door can be locked with a card key. There’s a TV and a small table inside of each capsule. They have the futuristic space-themed capsules.
    N$599-1,400.
