Barysaŭ

Barysaŭ (Belarusian: Барысаў; also commonly known as Borisov - a transliteration of the Russian Борисов) is a city in Minsk voblasć, Belarus.

Understand

The Battle of Berezina took place near Barysaŭ in November 1812 during the Napoleon's march on Russia. Nowadays, the most probable reason for visiting the town is football: the local club BATE is the most successful Belarusian football team and the local football arena hosts international tournaments' matches.

• Watch football at 1 FC BATE Borisov, Borisov Arena (3 km south of centre along Gagarin Road). BATE stands for "Borisov Automobile and Tractor Electronics" and they play soccer in the Premier League, the top tier in Belarus.
