Understand

edit

Bihać municipality occupies an area of 900 km² with around 70,000 citizens people. Since ancient times, the geographic position and favorable climate conditions have been suitable for settling in this region. The research based upon excavations and numerous remains has revealed the presence of humans in the Older Stone Age, Late Bronze Age, Late and Early Iron Age. Presence of the Japodes tribe in this area has certainly been proved. The Japodes culture marked Bihać by its extraordinary values and ancient inheritance. It began with building solutions for houses on stilts, jewelry made of bronze, iron, silver and the “Japodes horseman”. The archeological findings from many places like Bihać, Golubić, Pritoka and Ripač indicate the specific characteristics of the Illyrian culture in the Japodes area.

Be there before 15-16:00, otherwise the sun will not illuminate the waterfalls beautifully anymore. Check the map and details on the website, or at the tourist information center in the center of Bihać. The entrance closest to Bihać is called Gorjevac. Štrbacki Buk 3 KM, Martin Brod 2 KM. Free if your name is Una or you happen to hike in along one of the many trails that aren't passing the ticket office.
  • Una falls hike. An interesting hike to Una could be along the abandoned railway track. It is 20-30 km from Bihac, but shorter (15-20 km) from Ripac, which is along the highway by bus. Otherwise the hike from Cukovi is always worth it.
