Castelldefels is a municipality in Barcelona (province) famous for its beach of more than 5 km. It is an affluent area with many famous sportsmen as residents.

editYou can get in from Barcelona by train, bus or car.
The easiest way is by the Spanish Railways (renfe Rodalies). Direct trains leave from Passeig de Gràcia, Estació de França or Sants stations. There are trains every 15 minutes.
The R2 Sud line of Rodalies de Catalunya serves the municipality with two stations: Castelldefels and Platja de Castelldefels. Not all trains serve Platja de Castelldefels, check before boarding.

Alternatively, bus lines L94, L95 and L97, along with the express buses X95 and X97 connect Barcelona with Castelldefels.The journey time could be longer than the train end to end, but can be faster depending on your exact start and end points.
You can use integrated tickets such as the T-casual, as Castelldefels is in Zone 1, so tickets are not more expensive than a simple journey in Barcelona.
By air, the closest international airport is Barcelona/El Prat de Llobregat (BCN IATA) airport. Castelldefels is connected to the airport by bus by line L99. T-casual tickets for zone 1 are valid.

editYou can either walk, catch a local bus (CF1 that runs every 30 minutes), or get easily a taxi; its centre is quite tiny.

During the early middle ages, Castelldefels was on the frontier between the County of Barcelona and lands controlled by the Moors. Castelldefels was one of a number of castles built to protect the frontier. Today the castle hosts a museum dedicated to piracy.
