Chhukhung is a small village in Khumbu with a fabulous variety of additional spellings such as Chuukung and Chukhung. It is located at 4,730 metres above sea level.
Chhukhung is located at the foot of Island Peak Mountain (see Island Peak Trek)
A popular trip is climb up the 5,546-metre Chhukung Ri, it take about 6 hours to go and come back.
There are no stores in the village, but the lodges keep a stock of necessities, such as camera film, batteries, throat lozenges, bandages etc - but remember that prices rise along with the altitude - and Chhukhung is pretty high!
- Panorama Lodge has a great sun-room with views over the valleys and mountains beyond, and the facilities are exceptionally clean and well-maintained - a very special recommendation here.
