Costa Adeje is a resort town north of Los Cristianos. The name derives from the nearby town inland Adeje. It is roughly 2 km north of Playa de las Américas and 5 km north-west of Los Cristianos.
Understand
editDevelopment of Costa Adeje began in the late 1960s on the southwest coast of Tenerife. The city borders on the tourist stronghold of Playa de las Américas to the south. In Costa Adeje there are predominantly 4 and 5 star hotels that have a well-groomed appearance and can satisfy more demanding tourists. These come from all over Europe: menus in restaurants are often printed in 10 different languages.
It had a permanent population of about 20,000 people in 2018.

Do
editYou will find most of the popular water sports and activities here, including parasailing and paragliding. There are many diving opportunities on Tenerife, and a few companies are based in Costa Adeje, transporting their customers to the right spot in the time around the coast and the island.
Most hiking is free around the island, even though Masca gorge and the summit of El Teide require a permit to do so. However, there are almost endless other opportunities around, e.g. around Los Gigantes. But you can of course just head into the hills behind Costa Adeje like Monumento Natural de la Caldera del Rey or Vento near Arona.
