Curup is the capital city of Rejang Lebong regancy in Bengkulu.

Curup is a landlocked area, surrounded by Bukit Barisan on almost all sides. This vast expanse is known locally as luak. Musi River also flow through the luak.

People edit

The original inhabitants of this region are the Rejang (Tun Jang) tribe. As time goes by, people from other region came here. Immigrant races with significant populations are Javanese, Minangnese, Chinese, Serawainese, Lembaknese, Sundanese and various races from South Sumatra.

Flora and fauna edit

This area is also known as the habitat of Rafflesia arnoldii.

The native language spoken in Curup is Rejang language. But Malay language is increasingly used by people here.
