shoreline dive site at Rooi-els on the False Bay east coast

The dive site Andre se Gat or Nature Reserve is a shoreline rocky reef in the Rooi-els area on the east side of the Cape Peninsula, near Cape Town in the Western Cape province of South Africa.

Name edit

The name "Andre se Gat" (Andre's Hole) refers to a diving instructor, Andre Botha, who used it frequently in the 1990s. The alternative name "Nature Reserve" refers to the small patch of nature reserve just inshore of the site.

Maximum depth is reported to be about 25 m


Topography edit

Rocky reef. Gullies, ridges and caves have peen reported.

Geology: Sandstone of the Peninsula formation.

Surf and surge are to be expected at the entry areas

Normally a shore entry dive.

Parking is at the side of Rocklands Road, anywhere you can find a spot that does not unduly obstruct the road.
