states adjoining the east continental coastline of Australia
Oceania > Australia > Eastern Australia

Eastern Australia refers to the eastern jurisdictions of Australia and encompasses the following regions:

The states and territories in Eastern Australia. The ones in orange are only sometimes included

However, the term can be ambiguous, pending the following reasons:

  • Queensland is not always considered as "eastern", and sometimes Eastern Australia can only mean the jurisdictions that use AEST/AEDT time zone (New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and two other territories).
  • South Australia is also sometimes considered to be part of Eastern Australia as Adelaide is considered to be one of the four state capitals of Eastern Australia.
  • Sometimes Eastern Australia only refers to mainland states and territories, so Tasmania is sometimes not counted
