English: Hampstead High Street Looking towards the junction with Heath Street and Hampstead Underground station. Note the discreet McDonalds sign; when the burger chain tried to open here there was a huge controversy, with local residents and others fearing that it would mean the end of Hampstead's unique charm. In the end they were allowed to open, provided the frontage was kept uncharacteristically low-key. |
