DescriptionLife Memorial Park.jpg
English: Located at the corner of Porter and Normal Avenues, Life Memorial Park was established in commemoration of Buffalonians who had fallen victim to HIV/AIDS. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, at the height of the epidemic, a sizable LGBT community migrated to the Lower West Side from nearby Allentown in search of cheaper housing. An important neighborhood institution for these individuals was the Benedict House, a communal apartment for AIDS patients located a block from here on Jersey Street.
