Summary

Description
English: Basaltic mountains rise up steeply from the shoreline on Mangareva, Gambier Islands, French Polynesia
Original field notes: Mt. Duff, 1200', is the only volcanic remnant of all the original volcanoes which made up the Tuamotu archipelago, >70 islands. It lies in the far SE, in the exact relative position to the rest of the archipelago as the Big Island in Hawaii, therefore it is the youngest in the chain.
