Summary

Description
English: 109-111 College Street, Middletown, Connecticut, USA. This 1926 building functioned for over 40 years as the entrance to the Middlesex Theater, which faced Main Street. The latter was originally the Middlesex Opera House, built 1892; later Middlesex Theater (restored after a fire 1924, eventually a cinema); abandoned in the 1970s. This College Street building is now Tuscany Grill. A contributing property of the Metro South Historic District, which is on the National Register of Historic Places.

To the left of the theater are two other contributing properties of the Metro South Historic District: 107 College Street, built c. 1856 as a firehouse (which it remained until 1929) and the 2-story G. A. Chaffee Building, 105 College Street, built c. 1870. For much it its history, the Chaffee Building was a tavern. Both are now part of Middlesex Plaza.

Partly visible, on the corner, is 203 Main Street, former Universalist Church, built 1839, later (from 1916, and with its appearancemuch altered) Odd Fellows hall, now a Thai restaurant.
