Summary
| Description |
Travelling between the towns of Silverton and Ouray in Colorado you drive on Route 550 - otherwise known and "the Million Dollar Highway". The origin of the name is unclear but two possibilities are that the rock the road was built on contains gold or alternately it cost more than a million to make, through difficult terrain. In any event the road is fun to drive with great views as you go. It does require care as in places there are drops to the side with no barriers. |
