Summary

Description

Park City is renowned for excellent ski slopes, thanks to the high-quality snow resulting from the Great Salt Lake and its lake effect. Park City Resort is right outside the historical core of Park City, while Deer Valley is to the south, and Canyon is to the north on the entry from the I-80.

While Utah's ski slopes are best appreciated by experienced, skilled skiers, there are plenty of good slopes for beginners too. This beginner slope looks quite manageable, and the lift serving it is appropriately named "First Time."

Park City's ski resorts are rather expensive. I did my skiing instead just outside Sandy, where I had been staying. Near Sandy, four more affordable ski resorts - Alta, Snowbird, Solitude, and Brighton - exist, and I had chosen the oldest, Alta. Sadly due to unusually warm weather for the duration of my Utah stay, the snow was rather hard and uneven; also Alta's slopes were rather difficult even at the beginner level, and I really had trouble skiing.
