English: The "Pillar of Balzac", also commonly referred to as "Le Pilier de Balzac" — a sculptural monument by Jean Arp in the San Gabriel Valley of Southern California.
  • It is located near the intersection of Valley Boulevard and Morganfield Avenue in the city of West Covina, in eastern Los Angeles County, California.
  • The piece was commissioned by the descendants of French novelist and playwright Honoré de Balzac, to memorialize a lengthy relationship between the writer and William Workman, one of the 19th-century American pioneers in the San Gabriel Valley and Southern California.
  • The "Pillar of Balzac" monument was designed and created by renowned French Dadaist artist Jean Arp in 1918.
