English: Famous Ramghat Fair in Kapilvastu District of Nepal. This fair is not only a festival but also a religious fair. Ramghat River, located in Kapilvastu Municipality, is about 1 km away from Taulihawa Bazaar. Kartik Shukla Punirma falls on this Ramghat river every year. It is also called bathing fair or festival. The locals bathe in the river Ramghat in the morning on the day of this fair. There is a belief that bathing here is a sin and one's wish will be fulfilled. This river is also called Banganga. When Ram and Sita were on their way to Banbas, Sita got thirsty and could not drink water anywhere. That is why there is a belief that the name of this river is Banganga. That is why this fair of Ramghat is also called religious fair. In order to participate in this fair, the locals come here from village to village wearing new clothes. The fair is very crowded with locals. Also, the locals burn their dead bodies in the river Ramghat i.e. Banganga. This river is very famous in this Kapilvastu district. |
