Summary
DescriptionTerritory of Mahé, French India.JPG
English: The French territory of Mahé, with its administrative subdivisions. Based on an 1862 French navy map.
The small territory of Mahé (9 sq. km) on the Malabar coast (Kerala) is made up of 3 (almost 4) non-contiguous enclaves. It was one of the 5 territories of French India (along with Pondichéry, Karikal, Yanaon and Chandernagor) until it was de facto absorbed into independent India in 1954. Now Mahé, with the same territorial configuration, is one of the 4 districts of the Union Territory of Puducherry.
