English: The Mayflower Steps Where the Pilgrim Fathers set sail for the New World on 6th September 1620, boarding the Mayflower and leaving England to colonise North America. Not too surprisingly the Stars & Stripes can be seen flying here alongside the Union Jack.
Photo taken from the Cawsand to Plymouth passenger ferry as it approached the Steps. This ferry makes regular trips between the Steps and Cawsand Beach across the sound in Cornwall. It provides a useful service both for residents of the Cornish village to visit the city, and for Plymonians to visit the charming "smugglers'" village.
