Summary

Description
English: Parade particpants chant and blow whistles as they pull a goldfish float down the street at the annual Goldfish Lantern Festival in Yanai Aug.13. Yanai locals made the float by hand. Most of the floats featured lights and musical performers. According to the Yanai City Official Web site, nearly 150 years ago Yanai merchants began making goldfish lanterns for their children. The children played with the lanterns in the streets, thus beginning the festival.
