Bezirk Güssing is the only Bezirk in all of Austria without a single active rail connection. Because of this, you will arrive by car most likely. However, there are frequent buses running from Vienna thru Dr. Richard.

Traveling to the south (Jennersdorf) or into Hungary is difficult and or impossible by public transportation.

  • 1 Güssing castle. The castle which dominates the town onto an extinct volcano. You can walk up to the citadel or ride a Burgbahn.
  • 2 Gerersdorf open air museum. Using mostly thatched-roof residential and farm buildings, everyday objects and farm equipment from the 18th to early 20th centuries, a comprehensive and true-to-life insight into the Pannonian culture typical of the southern Burgenland area is offered.
  • 3 Franciscan monastery.
  • 4 Heiligenbrunn cellar district. A complex spanning over two separate vineyards, with more than 100 wooden log buildings (used as wine cellars or press houses) from the 18th and 19th centuries are listed as historical monuments.
  • 5 Eberau castle. Was once the largest moated castle in Austria. With its multiple moats, of which the outermost water ring covers the entire town of Eberau, is now one of the largest water defense systems in Central Europe. The building is generally not open to the public. The only exception are the annual castle plays.
  • 6 Kohfidisch castle. A castle with spacious English garden. It's not in a particularly good shape, but getting slowly renovated. Used mostly for weddings etc.
