Known as Furukawa (古川) until its 2004 merger with nearby villages, the town is often likened to a small version of Takayama, with a popular spring festival and a small, well-preserved historical city center.
Get off JR Hida Furukawa (飛騨古川駅,) station on JR Takayama line. 15 minutes from Takayama by JR train.
This town is really small. So you can get around on foot.
