urban township of Taiwan
Huwei (虎尾鎮) is a township of about 70,000 people (2023) in Yunlin County, Taiwan. It is known for having one of the largest sugar factories in Taiwan.

editIn the 17th century, during the Dutch era, the area was named Favorolang, said to have derived from the ethnonym Babuza, a tribe of the Taiwanese Plains Aborigines. During this time, it was one of the largest and most powerful aboriginal villages in Taiwan.

edit- 1 Yunlin Story House (雲林故事館). The museum building was constructed in 1920–1923 and opened for the residence of the Huwei County Magistrate of the Japanese government. After the handover of Taiwan back to China in 1945, the building was used for the residence of Huwei District Director.
- 2 Huwei Old Station (Huwei Tourist Center) (虎尾驛(虎尾遊客中心)), No. 10, Zhongshan Road, ☏ +886 56335893. 09:00-18:00. Housed in an old train station, the area hosts information on the tourist attractions in the area.
- 3 Huwei Sugar Factory (虎尾總廠), No. 2, Zhongshan Road, ☏ +886 56321540. 08:00-18:00. An historic factory that refines sugar from sugar cane. There's isn't much to do or see in the factory, but many locals come to watch the old train haul the sugar from the factory to be transported for distribution.
