Slow Boats leave Santarém from the Praça Tiradentes port only at Fridays 16:00. The ride takes 14 to 17 hours and costs R$50. The return from Itaituba is on every Monday.

Itaituba is on the Transamazônica highway and is connected by road to Cuiabá and Porto Velho.

If driving to Itaituba from Santarém or from the east, the ferry ride across the river will cost R$20 per car, regardless of number of passengers.
