Understand
editGet in
editThe park is about 30 km east of Pemberton via Highway 99. There will be a sign pointing to the park on your right. Upon turning right, you'll need to park your car once at the parking lot, as you cannot take your car inside the park. From the parking lot, follow signage to the Joffre Lakes Trail and you've arrived at the park.
Fees and permits
editYou will need a day-use pass to visit the park and can be done so for free on the BC Parks website. You'll need to book two days in advance, starting from 7AM.
If you're camping, you'll also need a reservation – bookings can be made on camping.bcparks.ca (note: you will not be able to make a reservation if you're visiting the park between Nov 15–Apr 15 due to safety concerns regarding avalanches).
Get around
editSee and do
editThere are three main attractions in the park: 1 Lower Joffre Lake, 2 Middle Joffre Lake and 3 Upper Joffre Lake. The Joffre Lakes Trail (coloured on map) connects all three glacial lakes to the parking lot beside Highway 99.
All three lakes have viewpoints – the viewpoint for Lower Joffre Lake is just a few steps from the parking lot, while the viewpoints for the other two will require you to hike. If you're used to hiking uphill on mountainous terrain, it shouldn't be too hard, but if you're not, then you're up for a challenge. Oh, and not to forget, on your way up, you'll be seeing mountains greater than 2500 metres in elevation.
