Understand
editThe municipality is mainly rural and forest, but there is also an old factory environment and several bogs. The centre of the municipality, Korkeakoski, was born in connection with the establishment of a shoe factory.

Do
editMost of Juupajoki is covered by forest, and you should head out to pick berries. You get cloudberries in the swamps, and elsewhere there is a wealth of lingonberries.
You can also visit the area to fish. In the river you can find e.g. brown trout, and in the countryside there is pike and perch. For reel-and-rod fishing you need to pay the national fishing fee (if aged 18–65). Without reel, the right to access may suffice. For the river you probably need a day card regardless. One rod per person.
