Kalevala (Russian: Калевала) is a region in Karelia in northwestern Russia, with just above 8,000 inhabitants. The main population center is the town of Kalevala, home to 4,000 inhabitants.

The town and region used to be named Uchta (Ухта). The region changed its name to Kalevala in 1935, for the centenary of the Kalevala epic.
