Keighley

Keighley (pronounced "keeth-lee") is a town in the English county of West Yorkshire, north west of Bradford in the Aire Valley.

By train

1 Keighley station is on the Aire Valley railway line, with trains every 30 min east via Shipley to Leeds and Bradford, and west to Skipton. Less frequent trains continue west through the moors to Carnforth, Lancaster, Morecambe, Appleby and Carlisle.

• 2 Cliffe Castle Museum. Tu-F 10AM-4PM. Sa, Su 11AM-4PM. Built in the 1880s as the home of Victorian millionaire textile manufacturer, Henry Isaac Butterfield. the museum has grand Victorian rooms with displays of local history and a collection of Morris and Co stained glass. free. • Rugby: Keighley Cougars were relegated in 2023, so they now play rugby league (13-a-side) in League One, the third tier; the playing season is Feb-Sept. Their home ground Cougar Park (capacity 7800) is along A650 half a mile north of the railway station.
