Get aroundEdit

SeeEdit

The beach is 8 kilometres (5 mi) long, and has fine, white sand, and very little waves. The best time to go there is July and August, when the water temperature gets to 20 degrees Celsius (68 °F) or more. The rest of the year, it is much colder.

DoEdit

When you want to go swimming near "plage Benoit" (west of the casino), you should check the tide schedule because when it is low, you can walk for half an hour and only get knee-deep in the water. Towards the centre and eastern side of the bay the beach is steeper, allowing swimming at low tide but producing more shore break.

  • 1 Casino Barrière (Casino de La Baule-Escoublac), 24, esplanade Lucien Barrière (near the beach), +33 2 40 11 48 28. Su–Th 09:00–03:00, F–Sa 09:00–04:00; Table games: 21:00–03:00 daily.

BuyEdit

The main shopping street, in the middle of La Baule, is the Avenue du Général de Gaulle.

EatEdit

Crêpes restaurant (crêperies) are numerous and cheap. Seafood is also a good choice: mussels, prawns, crab...
