Lagos City/Mainland

The Mainland refers to a vast region of Lagos which is on the African mainland and not on islands. Lagos Mainland is the official name of a district which forms only a small part of the mainland.

Get in

You can get in to Lagos mainland from any part of Lagos by either by shared taxis, BRT buses or local buses (also referred to as danfo).

See

• 1 Jaekel House, 17 Federal Rd, Ebute Metta, ☏ +234 802 831 2973. Historical house and Nigerian railway museum. (updated Aug 2020)
• 2 National Theatre, Mainland, Iganmu-Surulere. Located on the mainland at Iganmu, it is about a half-hour drive from Lagos Island. Built in 1977 as the principal forum for the International Festival of Black Arts and Culture, it has now become accepted as the prime center for performing arts in the country. The main auditorium has the capacity to seat around 3,000 persons and the conference hall can accommodate around 700 people. The building also houses two cinema halls, a restaurant and a bar. • 3 Legacy railway museum, Ebute Metta (Legacy railway museum, Ebute Metta) (close to tejuosho market, yaba). M-Sa 9AM-6:15PM, closed Su. It was built in November 1997 to display old carriage wagons, old steam locomotives and the running shed to preserve the Nigeria railway history. (updated Jan 2022)
• 4 Eko Bridge, Surulere Lagos. Eko Bridge is one of three bridges connecting Lagos Island to the mainland, the others are the Third Mainland and Carter bridges. 
• 5 National Gallery of Modern Art. A modern art museum featuring two main galleries – one with portraits, while the other is with sculptures. (updated May 2022)

• 1 Ozone Cinemas, E-Centre, 1-11 Commercial Avenue, Sabo, Yaba, ☏ +234 816 662 6015. 9AM-7PM. Ozone Cinemas mostly accommodates students, students are the majority population found in the Cinema. This is because of the institutions located not far from the Cinema. • Oyingbo Market. The market is an ultramodern market complex located in Oyingbo, a metropolitan city in Ebute Metta. The market is one of the oldest and busiest markets in Lagos.  

• Ademuyiwa Market, 13 Ademuyiwa Street. A cool market in Ebute Metta that specialises in sale and sewing of clothes 

Eat

• Eniafe Lamo Food Canteen, 39, Old Yaba Road, ☏ +234 8187211291. It specialises in local dish of every kind and also drinks and ice cream. 
• God's Favour Restaurant, 65A, Brickfield Street, Apapa Road Mainland Lagos, ☏ +234 8091514093. Chinese food, small chops, snacks, and cocktails. 
• Whitehouse. in Yaba near E-centre.
• Karma, Burma Road, Apapa. Dinner for two approx. ₦7000. Sunday buffet lunch at ₦2200 per person.

Drink

• Koko Lounge: Yaba. Cool as it gets. Co-owned by Africa's biggest hip-hop star, D'Banj who makes frequent appearances. Wednesday night is comedy nights. Classy VIP. Reasonable prices.
• The Psychiatric Hospital : Located actually inside a real Psychiatric hospital in Yaba is a small restaurant. Tables and chairs thrown around in the lawn, you can hangout here with friends for hours
• Monalido: Apapa. at Corner of Creek road, Entry ₦500 per person. Good music, sufficient space for sitting. Good, big dance floor. Every one welcome. 10PM-5:30AM. Drinks are at very competitive prices, Nice Food Restaurant as well open till 6AM.
