Callao

Callao is a constitutional region in the Peruvian coast conurbation to Lima. Includes the districts of Callao, La Perla, La Punta, Bellavista, Ventanilla, Carmen de la Legua y Reynoso and Mi Perú.

• 1 Fortaleza del Real Felipe (Museo Histórico del Real Felipe), Av. Oscar R. Benavides (fronted by Plaza Independencia), ☏ +51 1 429 0532. Tu-Su 09ː00-16ː00. Constructed in 1747. This fort was built to protect Lima from pirates during the viceroyalty period, and then featured prominently in the defense of the emerging new nation against Spain in 1866. 
• Museo de la Fuerza de Aviación Naval, Avenida Faucett 3479,, ☏ +51 1 575 1097. 
• 2 Museo Naval, Jr. José Gálvez 123, ☏ +51 1 4294793, informes@museonaval.com.pe. Tu-Su 09:00-16:00. Covers the history of the Peruvian navy. And you can walk along the promenade in front and even take a short cruise in the harbor (extra fee). Adults S/3; students and children S/2. 
• 3 Museo de Sitio Naval Submarino Abtao (BAP Abtao), Jorge Chavez 120-A. Tu-Su roughly 09ː30-16ː30. An old submarine that you can go inside, built in 1952 by American Electric Boat company, purchased by Peru in 1954. S/10.

This hostel has a cool yet clean vibe to it with a bar in the back. The owner is very helpful and make sure to ask him the easy way to get to Lima Center (you will save a lot of taxi fares). Dorms range from S/32-40.
