Mandurah is a fast growing coastal town immediately south of Perth in the Peel region of Western Australia.

Mandurah is the terminal station on the Mandurah line of Perth's suburban rail network. It's 55 minutes from the Perth Underground station to Mandurah and costs $5.20 (checked 2024-09-16) for a ticket, though the price is reduced if using a Transperth SmartRider. If not using a SmartRider and only planning a day trip, consider getting a DayRider ticket ($10.40) which will cover all travel for the day (buses, and return train).

By bike

The cycle facilities from Perth to Mandurah are excellent. It is a long cycle, but all off-road by the side of the new Kwinana Freeway extension. Not recommended during summer.

By car

It's a fifty minute drive from Perth CBD via the Kwinana Fwy (Hwy 2). Exit onto State Route 19 Mandjoogoordap Dr.

Get around

You can get around to most destinations via bus, through some routes are somewhat infrequent (30 min between buses) especially during off-peak hours. Renting a bicycle is an option, they can be acquired from outside the Visitors Center. However depending on where you wish to visit, you may find driving the best option.

  • 1 Mandurah War Memorial, 11 Leighton Pl, Halls Head. 24/7.
  • 2 Amaze Miniature Park, 24 Husband Rd, Barragup, +61 493 299 753. W-Sa 10AM–4:30PM. Miniature park.
  • Giants of Mandurah. A collection of five large sculptures created by Thomas Dambo, they're located in various places in and around Mandurah, many of which require a little walking to get to. There is a sixth statue in Perth. An information brochure can be obtained from the Mandurah Visitors Center.
  • Mandurah Museum, 3 Pinjarra Rd. Small local history museum. Entry cost is a gold coin donation ($1-2).
  • Lake Clifton Thrombolites, Lake Clifton. Large group of ancient thrombolites, rock-like organisms. Not accessible via public transport.

There are many beaches to swim and fish at, as well as, various boat tours and cruises.

  • Mandurah Dolphin Tours, Mandjar Bay.
  • Mandurah Crab Fest, 3 Peel St. Annual event held on the 3rd weekend of March, is most notable for selling seafood and includes various entertainment (Live music, fireworks etc).
  • Mandurah Visitors Center, 75 Mandurah Terrace. Offers an assortment of souvenirs.

Preston Beach is a 20-minute drive south of Mandurah and 90 minutes south of Perth. The short drive will make you feel close to home but the relaxed seaside village of Preston Beach will seem like another world. Footprints is on the main street, fronting the only access to the beach.
