Get in
editBy bus from Rio de Janeiro or by car by the road BR-101.
From the Rio's Central Zone, there are buses available in the long-distance bus station Rodoviária Novo Rio. that go directly from the downtown area of Rio de Janeiro to Mangaratiba. This route is made by the bus company "Costa Verde". Mangaratiba is about 100 km from downtown Rio.
Although there are no urban public transport lines connecting directly Mangaratiba to the Rio's Central Zone, there are some urban bus lines that connect Mangaratiba to peripheral places of the metropolitan area of Rio de Janeiro, such as the municipality of Itaguaí.

edit- OYO Residencial Itacuruçá Apart Hotel, R. Cecília, 88 - Itacuruçá, ☏ +55 800 696 7666. This is a pleasant beach apart-hotel where you can really be on your way feeling satiated from a full breakfast and enjoy the pool later on in the day. R$ 112.
- Pousada Costa Verde, R. Espírito Santos, 45, ☏ +55 21 2780-5323. This one is a little ho-hum just looking at the nondescript building that occupies the street corner, but, hey, it's only a block or two to the beach and sometimes that's all that matters. R$ 122.
- Guapuruvu HOSTEL, R. Eng. Irineu Marconi, Condominio Praia de Garatucaia, Angra dos Reis, 28, ☏ +55 21 99921-3237. This is a festive little place with hammocks and games and a small pool, plus a bar and free (kind of spartan) breakfast to enjoy your victuals. It's next to Garatucaia Beach and the pier to get to Ilha Grande.
