editPennsylvania Route 35, a southwest-northeast highway that serves as Juniata County's principal arterial highway running in that direction, forms the main street of Mifflintown. It intersects the former mainline of US routes 22 and 322, which was moved in the early 1970s to a four-lane bypass lying east of the town. The former Pennsylvania Railroad mainline tracks, now owned by the Norfolk Southern Railway, lie across the Juniata River in the adjoining town of Mifflin.

editThe Juniata County Courthouse is the centerpiece of this town. Built in 1875, this historic structure has been the center of Juniata County government for almost 150 years. In 2010, the bell tower was rebuilt to match the original design. In 2016, the floor was replaced with tile from the same manufacturer as used in the original floor and the center design tiles were reused. A revolving display of county artifacts has been setup in the bookcases in the hallways by the Juniata County Historical Society. Mifflintown is situated along the Juniata River which has played a vital part in the town's history. Today, the river is a popular recreation spot, providing excellent fishing, swimming and boating. Long, gentle gliding riffles make floating an ideal pastime. Residents enjoy the walking bridge from Mifflintown to Mifflin Borough for exercise and viewing the river.

editThe Juniata River is a great for fishing for smallmouth bass and floating down the river in a canoe or kayak. The Mifflintown Farmer's Market is held the second Saturday of each month from June through October along Bridge Street. The Mifflintown Playground and surrounding ball fields are great for family activities along with the Juniata County Library, which is located next door.
