Pingyang County (simplified Chinese: 平阳县; traditional Chinese: 平陽縣; pinyin: Píngyáng Xiàn, Wenzhounese:ben yi) is a county in the prefecture-level city of Wenzhou, located along the southern coast of Zhejiang province, China. There are two main cities with many surrounding villages in Pingyang. The two main settlements are called Aojiang and Kunyang (Kunyang is commonly called Pingyang, however Pingyang is also the name of the county). Aojiang is located ten minutes outside of Kunyang and the various villages and area's that are also classified as part of Pingyang county extend for about a 1-hour radius.

Pingyang was established as a county in the fourth year of Taikang in the Western Jin Dynasty (283 AD), with a history of more than 1,700 years. In the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period (914 AD), the county was named Pingyang until now.

Pingyang has always been a prosperous literary style, and many cultural celebrities have emerged, including Huang Gongwang, the author of "Fuchun Mountain Dwelling", Lin Jingxi, a patriotic poet in the Southern Song Dynasty, Song Shu, a thinker in the Qing Dynasty, Su Buqing, a contemporary mathematical master, and Xie Xiaxun, a centenarian chess king. Pingyang is an important birthplace and inheritance place of Nanxi Opera, and is the "Hometown of National Martial Arts", "Hometown of Chinese Chess" and "Hometown of Traditional Drama in Zhejiang Province".
