It is on the southeast slope of the Sobaek Mountains, the mainstream of the Nakdong River penetrates the eastern region and is rich in mountains, water, and natural resources. Sangju City is a city in western Gyeongsangbuk-do. In the early Joseon Dynasty, it served as the head of Gyeongsang-do as the location of Gyeongsanggamyeong, and it is a historic city that became the etymology of Gyeongsang-do along with Gyeongju-si.
