town and civil parish in Shropshire, England
Shifnal is a small market town in Shropshire.
Some writers have claimed that Shifnal was the inspiration for Market Blandings, a town that appears in several of P.G. Wodehouse's stories. That claim is disputed and several other candidates have been suggested. In any case, Shifnal certainly fits the description, a quiet and somewhat quaint place.
