  • Jorethang is situated about 30 km from Darjeeling. The small place is an important traffic junction in South Sikkim. There are daily busses to Siliguri at 8AM, Gangtok at 7:30AM, Namchi at 8:30AM and Pelling at 3PM. There are shared jeeps to Darjeeling (25 km, ₹100), Namchi (1 hr, ₹25) and Leghsip (1 hr) where you have to change cars for Ravangla, Yoksum and Tashiding, as well as to Gangtok (4 to 5 hr, ₹100) and Silguri (4 to 5 hr, ₹100). Most shared jeeps leave Jorethang earlier than 1PM.

  • 4 days Dooars tour: Day 1: Drive from Siliguri or NJP to Mongpong on the banks of river Tista, with a view of Mahananda Wild Life Sanctuary. Drive through tea gardens and forests to Lataguri, a small Dooars town 55 km from Mongpong. Overnight at Lataguri. Day 2: Visit Gorumara National Park and walk to Khagrijan on nature trail. Overnight at Lataguri. Day 3: Drive to Jaldapara through the forest of Chapramari. Overnight at Jaldapara. Day 4: Drive through Chapramari Forest. Elephant ride in the grassland, opportunity to view the one horned Rhino. Onward drive to Siliguri or NJP.
