Belize coastal island

St. George's Caye is a tiny island off the coast of Belize, less than 10 miles away from Belize City. The island is mostly known for the "Battle of St. George's Caye" between the Spanish fleet and British resident woodcutters called "Baymen" in 1798. Belize celebrates the "Battle of St. George's Cay national holiday" on the 10th of September.

Get in

edit

The island does not have an airstrip and you will have to take a boat from Belize City.

Get around

edit

The island is so small that you can walk everywhere.

St. George's Caye is a really tiny island and there is not much to do. You can lie on the beach or in a hammock. You can also go snorkeling or fishing or rent a kayak. If you're looking for a nearby island with more activities, you should probably consider Caye Caulker or Ambergris Caye.
