Highway bus "Ryūhyō Monbetu" runs from Sapporo to Monbetsu via Takinoue, with 3 round trips for direct service and 1 round trip Asahikawa indirect service per day. Takes about 3 hr 30 min and ¥4280 fare from/ Sapporo.

There is another local bus service from/to Monbetsu.

Hokumon Bus operates bus services around the town.

  • 1 Kinsenkyō (錦仙峡). The valley made by Shokotsu River near the town center. The promenade has been developed. You can enjoy the views of varied depending on the season.
  • 2 Takinoue Park (滝上公園). Best time to see, early May - early June. Shibazakura (moss phlox) bloom in the large park. In Sibazakura season ¥500, other season free.
Ukishima wetlands
  • 1 Ukishima Wetlands (浮島湿原). mid June - late Oct. The high moor 850 m above sea level, about 700 ha area. The pounds of various sizes are scattered, because there is a floating island (Ukisima, 浮島) that made by the wetlands grass roots to some pounds, this name is attached. The promenade has been developed, walking time from the parking is about 2-3 hr. Free.
